How Emotional regulation Builds Followership

Launching in 2026, Magnetic forms the foundation of the Magnetic framework. The book began as doctoral research in Organisational Psychology at Nyenrode Business University, exploring emotional regulation and political skill in leadership.

Although the PhD was discontinued, the work evolved into a practical framework. Drawing on psychological theory and experience across Formula 1, Gartner, and commercial leadership, Magnetic translates behavioural science into strategies for emotional regulation and creating durable followership.

The book articulates the thinking, the Magnetic Leadership training applies it.

About Noor Rhijnsburger

Formula 1 taught me that steadiness is not the absence of pressure, but the ability to operate effectively within it. In high-pressure moments, the difference is not intelligence. It is who remains steady enough to think clearly and influence decisions.

I spent years at Mercedes F1 and Renault working in that environment. What I learned there, and later in commercial leadership at Gartner and McMurtry Automotive, is that the same principle applies to leadership.

The most capable leaders I have worked with do not fail because their thinking is wrong. They stall because something between their vision and the organisation’s response is not calibrated. The leader pushes, but the organisation responds slowly.

Magnetic is the framework I built to address that. It draws on organisational psychology, behavioural research, and direct experience in high-precision, high-stakes environments. It is designed for leaders who are already excellent and want their organisation to move with the same precision they bring to their thinking.
